Go Above and Beyond

Shawn started his career in sales right out of high school when he went to a window, doors, and siding company called Pacesetter. He would have to set up appointments for the salesman, and they earned a base salary plus commission on what was sold off of the appointments he set. He learned very quickly that for income in the sales industry, the sky’s the limit.

At Payback Life Insurance Group, we can’t hold your hand and we certainly can’t make you accomplish great things. But, by going above and beyond, the work does not go unnoticed and you are able to learn to protect more families. A salesperson’s bread and butter aren’t their sales numbers. It’s their own willingness to do something greater than themselves.

Determination

In 1996, Shawn learned to sell steaks, chicken, and seafood door-to-door. He transitioned into offices throughout the Midwest and trained others to sell as well. No base salary, just pure commission. 

He did this for nine years before opening his own business in 2005.

But his determination led him to a better career than he could’ve ever imagined, and he is so happy to help others do the same. But he can’t teach a steak to sell itself, and he can’t teach an undetermined insurance salesperson to sell, either. With the right dedication and determination, you will go far in this industry.

Optimism

In 2012, Shawn got into real estate. He learned about repairing houses while working with Sears selling windows, doors, siding, heating, and air conditioning. He learned what could be repaired.

He was optimistic that this work would take him somewhere. He was hopeful every time he confronted a broken home with the prospect of fixing it up and earning money for his family. Payback Life Insurance Group values optimism because even when things get tough, it motivates you to your next big breakthrough.

Teamwork

In 2013, Shawn started his real estate career and became a serial entrepreneur. He learned how to buy houses using creative and bank financing.

Most importantly, he learned a different aspect of sales. He learned to sell himself to the homeowner and help them to understand and trust him. He created long-term relationships with his customers. 

He worked with his clients to build a different kind of relationship than they would expect from a salesperson. That is one foundation of teamwork — to consider your customers, not just your clients, but as your team, your partner.

The other aspect, of course, is your team with Payback Life Insurance Group. We’re your partner, your friend, and your support system. That means trusting your team and working with them in return so that you can reach your goals.

Loyalty

In 2021, Shawn started selling life insurance. He saw it as an active and most importantly, a passive income opportunity. He quickly found out that it was much more than that. It’s the easiest business to start with the least amount of investment needed to start.
